Slovakia can again use the name Tokaj. The electronic register E-Bacchus is a registered name since March Tokaj wine region, with effect from the first August 2009. In the case of Hungary, which could, in consultation with nepočkajúc Slovak, register the name Tokaj in Brussels, but it is still only half a victory.

The name Tokaj is the European Commission has registered with the words "wine region".

"Certainly we have made progress, it has managed to preserve the word Tokaj, the root for Slovakia," said Director of the Research Institute of Viticulture and Enology Jaroslav Kaňuchová-Pátková. Nevertheless, Slovakia can be achieved with the outcome still not satisfied.

E-Bacchus is in fact a register of protected designations of products. The name Tokaj wine region, which registered the European Commission after an urgent letter to Agriculture Minister Vladimir Farmed (CSL), but not by the product that it is born, thus the wine called Tokay.

"The registration Tokaj wine region is understood as a first step towards the European Commission after the attestations Slovakian Tokaj name specification, Tokaj, Tokaj, Tokaj has made changes as we requested it from the beginning," said Jaroslav Kaňuchová-Pátková.

Thus, the Commission should take according to the Slovak side of the Slovak legislation, in which the term Tokay appeared already in 2005. Slovak Wine legislation known as recalled Pátková, or sign Tokaj Tokaj wine, Tokay or Lipovina Tokaj Furmint.
